SURGERY
General surgery is dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment – surgical, when applicable – of diseases of the digestive system, endocrine diseases (thyroid and adrenal glands), breast pathology, and abdominal wall hernias.
The areas of intervention in General Surgery include, for example:
- Oncological diseases of the digestive tract and related glands (liver, pancreas), breast, thyroid, and adrenal glands;
- Obesity (obesity or bariatric surgery);
- Stomach diseases: achalasia, gastroesophageal reflux (hiatal hernia), gastric ulcers;
- Intestinal diseases (Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, diverticulitis) and rectal and anal diseases (fistula, fissure, rectal prolapse, pruritus ani, hemorrhoids, pilonidal disease);
- Liver and gallbladder diseases (gallstones);
- Abdominal wall hernias (umbilical, inguinal, incisional, epigastric, linea alba hernias).
